A nonfiction book has to have ALL real facts. In my mind, if its all happened in your life but with a little exaggeration is okay. If there were things that didn't happen or that you wanted to happen but didn't then it isn't considered nonfiction or a biography.
If its a good story and its half true I honestly don't know. Just to me I'm picky on what should be in a book to consider a specific genre. like if it's fiction I think of so fantasy and non-normal human things in it or nonfiction I think of specific facts about something in particular.
Yes I think different types of things that happen should have labels like books and humans. like how do we know if one person is telling the truth and the other is lying? But that's a different story.
In Their eyes were watching god its a nonfiction book because it's what happened in a girls life. It shows what has happened and what lead her to be who she is to this day.
